In the zillions of miles that I have ridden with Vern she has made me slam my foot down, looking for the passenger-side brake, only once.

I guess that Boop didn’t want to be behind 1-0, so she took care of that today.

I don’t know how she got to my place this morning, nor do I want to.  When she honked, she represented the only tracks in my driveway, which had about six inches of snow.  It worked for me, and was no harbinger of disaster or cause for concern.

What the hell do I know.

When she took me back home her method was clear and, maybe, admirable.  I would certainly have admired it back when I was 16 or so.

Coming down the street she slammed the Trakker into a brodie and applied the accelerator to come out of the skid in line with my driveway.  A judicious application of power (called floorboarding) at that point would then bring her into the snow at maybe 20 mph.  This would ensure that the rear of the Trakker cleared the street at least 20ft before the arrival of the oncoming vehicle.

It actually worked.  The phenomenal part was that we generated a bow-wave greater than the QEII upon launch.

I got out and went into the house.  I didn’t faint, not even once.  I had no alcohol on hand (having consumed my Christmas supply), so I made some scrambled eggs and hash browns.  I was in no way anxious.  As soon as I thought I was able to make the block and a half to the Legion, without being cannibalized by the Donner party, that’s what I did.
